Picture of Peter Sutcliff the “Yorkshire Ripper”
Yorkshire ripper jailed for life 1981
1981 “The Yorkshire Ripper” jailed of life after the murder of 13 women. You know something – nothing has changed. Yes the Police now boast that new technology and centralisation of information will create a difference in the search for the man who up to date has murdered 5 women in Ipswich UK.
This has changed, that is technology has changed but attitudes of people – men and women the police, and the media remains firmly back in 1981.
Nothing else has changed; prostitutes are still worthless scum, drug addicts, single mothers, unemployable worthless pieces of fuck fodder of men with a few readies. Oh and may even be ‘blonde’ as one newspaper described ‘blonde Gemma’. I cannot even stand to think how the Daily Sport may be portraying these women, and right now I do not want to know – I have read enough. Tonight, on the news for instance while discussing the Police hunt – they showed the stereotypical image of a street ‘girl’ bending over, short skirt and heels plying business with a John in his car.
Let us get something straight here Mr Joe Public these victims are women who have been murdered in cold blood. Not fucking prostitutes or blonde or single mothers or tarts/whores/hookers/bitches they are women who have a life outside of the trade where they earn their money – because poverty is a feminist issue.
Police please give these women the amnesty that they need to come forward with your ‘vital information’ that you are bleating about.
Give them a break.

They have amnesty for guns and knives here in the UK why not prostitutes? I wonder.
*applause*
Well ranted Sparkle!
Reposting this link as it is a hellva good one and a spot-on piece – the title does not pull any punches: (Please take the time to read it)

Quote at end of article
“A life of prostitution
95% of female street prostitutes in the UK use heroin or crack cocaine
76% of the public favour introducing some form of regulation to the sex industry
69% of prostitutes say they report no or hardly any attacks to the police
60% of prostitutes say they have been beaten up or raped in the past year
55% of prostitutes say men have refused to pay them for their services
50% of working prostitutes are under the age of 25
27% of the public believe prostitution should be stamped out altogether
10% of men admit to having used prostitutes
1% of prostitutes say they have stopped street sex work as a result of police activity”
Also, I cannot stress this strongly enough, men using coercion to obtains sex from a women, no matter who she is or what she does, is rape too. Most men are rapists.
I would also say that 10% of men admitting to using prostitutes is probably right – only 10% would admit it, but the number who actually have, is much much higher.
As the proliferation, mainstreaming, and easy availability of publications which provide the backbone to the acceptability of treating women’s bodies as mere throwaway sex toys, such as nuts, zoo, fhm, loaded, front and the daily squirt, are accepted more and more, the more men will think tha “rape one step removed” is ok, and the more women will feel under pressure to put-out – prostitutes or not – it’s all designed around the almighty cock and it’s fucking demands. Many younger women are now so desensitised to their bodies being used for sex, that by the time they are late teens or even earlier, they have no probs with the idea of selling sex when the going gets tough for them financially – they may start out “easy” doing lapdancing or stripping, but that just desensitises them even more.
Men need to stop demanding this and society needs a major overhaul in paying fair money for work – fair pay, not exploitation – men stop demanding, women can live their lives free from danger and psychological damage.
Society is in one big pornographic mess and men need to really admit accountability on a world-wide scale.
There have been talks of one in the Guardian, don’t have it to hand at the mo so can’t quote it, but the point I raised is that even if they get amnesty it’s not going to protect them because they still have to go out and earn money – amnesty doesn’t include compensation. Telling them they wont be arrested if they give information will help towards the case but it won’t help them for now when they’re being told to stay off the streets.
There was one woman in the area on the news last night who knew all 5 women and she was talking to the police and the media about it – but she was on the street doing this because shes still had to work.
Another huge thing that bothers me, which I somehow forgot to put in my blog post, is that if another woman goes missing after they’ve been warned to stay off the streets, how many fuckers are going to be saying they deserved it and ‘they were warned’ because they didn’t stay at home?
There is a dreadful article in today’s Daily Mail – someone posted a link in the thread at Twisty’s – that says that the real problem is the drug addiction, and the reason that they’re addicted is because they (the prostitutes) are copying celebrities like Kate Moss who make it glamorous to do. (!!!)
Of all the stupidity I have read and heard about this case, this must take the prize. The utter ignorance and fuckwittery. I would say “unbelievable”, but unfortunately it is not.
here is my reply to the Mail (under the name somereality), though it’s not gone through their moderation yet:
“What the author of this article and most of the commenters totally fail to realise is that the reason that most prostitutes take drugs is NOT for the “glamour”, but to deal with what is often years of sexual and physical abuse before they even take to the streets in desperation for more funds.
Blaming celebrities is a shallow and hopelessly inadequate analysis of a much deeper rot within our society – attitudes towards women which do not afford them dignity and respect as autonomous and full human
beings, but instead treat them as objects to be used and controlled by men whenever and wherever.
These attitudes, this misogyny, drives the men who buy and sell women’s bodies, the men who beat and rape them, and most obviously men like this current killer(s) who choose to rob women of their life completely”
Cause for hope?

Let’s hope they are serious and this is not just window dressing.
UK – OMG now they are blaming celebs ffs! Anything – anything rather than MEN JOHNS
Yes that’s the ones yunno MEN_JOHNS_MEN_JOHNS.
“Blaming celebrities is a shallow and hopelessly inadequate analysis of a much deeper rot within our society”
Now what bit of this is difficult to understand? AND it was the media that made Kate so fucking chic for using drugs in the first place!
Daisy I saw a similar case on TV months ago where a guy kidnapped and raped a prostitute and he was tracked down years later with improved DNA techniques. Yes! In addition, he went to jail (full whack sentence) for *gasp* raping a prostitute!
Grace I would like to see an amnesty in case these women hold some vital clues. I know it will not help their financial situation, but it might get some leads for the perp. Get the real filth off the streets.
I can’t belive that ANYONE would think women are taking herion to copy the stars! For anybody who has tried it will know…once you are ‘in the zone’ NOTHING matters…and that’s the whole point. It doesn’t matter that you had a god-awful life and were abused throughout your childhood, it doesn’t matter that you had to do the most disgusting things to the most disgusting people to get the money for your hit, it doesn’t matter that all your friends are dead. Smack is for forgeting. Smack is to stop the screaming in your head…for it to be quiet…just for a minute.
“I can’t belive that ANYONE would think women are taking herion to copy the stars!”
Well, it’s far easier/better to blame a female celeb than to admit that it’s precious and pure MEN who are the source and cause of the problem.
I absolutely agree Sparkle – an amnesty is necessary so that anyone who might have any information feels safe enough to report it so that they can get this/these bastard(s) as soon as possible.
It just gets me angry that they seem to think that asking prostitutes not to work is there job done in terms of physically protecting them, and they have to do the rest themselves – that’s how i’ve seen it in the media anyway.
An amnesty is also necessary so that those prostitutes who DO have to carry on working (i.e. all of them, since nobody else is offering to pay their bills until the police get their fingers out and catch the bastard) can do so more safely.
Their problem (one problem!) is that the police have “dispersed” them from the areas where they could work together and look out for one another and keep each other informed about who is OK and who is to be avoided. Another is that because they are constantly looking over their shoulder for the police, they don’t have the time and space they need to check people out properly so they have to take bigger risks with who they will go with.
If the police will give them an amnesty they can at least do a little bit to protect themselves by watching each other’s backs.
Oh, and YES YES YES they should stick every last one of the bastard sleazebag Johns in jail as well. And they should damn well prosecute them for loitering or kerb crarwling or causing a nuiance or whatever else they can (one of those new terrorist offences will probably cover it – they cover every other damn thing we do) so that they are bloody well publicly shamed for thinking they are entitled to buy sex whenever they want it.
If that means every last prostitute is out of work, well maybe then the government will realise that they HAVE to help them recover from their experiences and get a decent life. If anyone deserves it, these women do.
Deep breath.
Maia – yes the amnesty would also help protect the women while they were still out ‘there’ dodging police and as you say not vetting Johns properly and supporting each other. I hope to Goddess that our country adopts the Swedish model on prostitution after all of this.
