Thanks Maia, I enjoyed Dark Daughta’s ka CHING. Tho’ I might not have done it justice as I have a problem reading red and white on black. I’ve realised, for me- maybe because I’m not a USer – these words aren’t purely in reference to Bush, but are directed at any cruel and thoughtless person who has an obscene amount of power.
No objections to the song, but to be a bit of a devil’s advocate I do have ishoos with Pink. For one thing she apparently had a pole (as in dancing, not an Eastern European) installed on her tour plane, oh and I read she gave people porn videos after her birthday party (this supposedly proved how cool she is). So 5/10 must try harder Ms P. You talk the talk, but it’s time to walk the walk.
Oh and she’s also one of those “I shagged a woman once” figures all lesbians are meant to idolise cos she looks a bit dykey – despite being married (though she is getting divorced). But that’s by the bypass really.

She had the image of being ‘new feminism’ and denouncing behaviour that pandered to men/media. Now she is doing exactly that.
We called her ‘inconsistant’, and did not ‘denounce her as a person’. Don’t try and put words in OUR mouths.
Nor was it radfems that diss’d Britney Spears, in fact, we have been very supportive of her precisely because she was the victim of such a media turn. It was the MALESTREAM MEDIA who diss’d her for being ‘a bad mother’ etc.

This is an important point. It differs from the moral dilemma of reporting suffering in an attempt to raise awareness and as an educational tool. However, as suggested – to use others agony as a medium to promote a song needs to be questioned.
